The Community Investment Fund (CIF) supports projects which address the issues, needs and aspirations of the community of the Galson Estate. CIF is aimed at organisations that provide or seek to provide activities or services that focus on developing skills; improving health and wellbeing; relieving poverty; protecting the environment; engaging local people to become more active in the community; promoting and protecting the rich heritage and culture of the area; and developing, revitalising and growing industry sectors.

As well as the Community Investment Fund, we offer a range of financial, business, and hardship support. Please see below for the different funding grants available.

The Community Investment Fund has prospered since its creation in October 2014 and has supported a large number of projects and organisations on the estate, both financially and through advice and guidance. In the first decade, over half a million pounds was awarded - you can read more here.

The Fund has created opportunities for greater social impacts across the Estate, supporting a wide range of community projects such as Island Games, Comunn Eachdraidh Nis, Taigh Dhonnchaidh, Ness F.C, Macaulay College, Carthannas Nis and many more.

support for growth
Our Growth Fund is there to support local organisations to grow and put them on a route to self-sufficiency over a three year period. Through a combination of funding and ongoing business support, UOG wants to ensure that key organisations and businesses in Galson Estate have access to the support they need in order to prosper.

transport grant
Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn offers funding of up to 80% towards transport costs for schools and youth clubs from within the Galson Estate. Whether it is to attend competitions or for island school trips, UOG can provide financial support towards travel costs.

hardship fund
UOG is committed to supporting professionals working with the most vulnerable members of our estate community.
Medical staff, social workers, health visitors, teachers, and charity workers are welcome to contact us for help in providing essential items that cannot be sourced through other public initiatives.

We offer discreet, confidential support tailored to individual needs. Previous assistance has included items such as groceries, clothing, shoes, dehumidifiers, and mattresses.
​

As stated in the Terms & Conditions of your award, it is essential that Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn is credited on all your related information, marketing and publicity materials, this includes social media activity, press releases and posters.​

We have put together a simple guide to promotion to help you shout about your project and to support you with ensuring UOG is credited in the correct places.​
