GALSON ESTATE COMMUNITY CLIMATE ACTION PLAN
The Community Climate Action Plan was completed in April 2025. Its primary goals are to ensure that all Galson Estate residents can heat their homes comfortably and affordably, whilst meeting energy efficiency standards, and enhance community connectivity through sustainable transport links and support for the transition to electric vehicles.

To gather local insight, a Climate Cafe was held on 28th November 2024, focusing on community views around energy and transport. In addition, a household survey was conducted to collect information about residents’ home construction, heating systems, and travel habits. The survey received strong engagement, with 244 responses highlighting key concerns such as lack of transport options, fuel poverty, and a shortage of energy-efficient homes.

Our next steps focus on addressing these key concerns. First, we plan to support the installation of basic energy-saving measures by offering guidance and resources to make improvements easier and more appealing for households and businesses. Second, in response to transport challenges, we aim to explore investment in a community electric vehicle as a practical and inspiring example for others.

By implementing these actions, we hope to lower energy bills, boost well-being and resilience across the community, and take meaningful steps toward alleviating fuel poverty on the Galson Estate.
