This summer, Galson Estate is set to be the ultimate destination for young adventurers, with
an exciting calendar of activities ranging from crofting and snorkelling to creating 3D images and football skills.
Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn (UOG)will kick off the season with its annual Plòigh holiday programme, running over the first two weeks of the summer holidays. Delivered in collaboration with a variety of partners including An Lanntair, Surf Lewis, Spòrsnis, Comunn na Gàidhlig, RSPB, Bumblebee Conservation Trust and Taigh Dhonnchaidh, Plòigh offers a dynamic and diverse mix of sessions for school-aged children. Thanks to support from UOG and Urras Oighreachd Bharabhais, Plòigh activities are subsidised for residents of both the Galson and Barvas Estates.

Football fans can also look forward to the return of Ness FC’s Summer Coaching School, delivered in partnership with the Charlie Miller Academy. The three-day programme (23 - 25 July), open to children aged 4 - 16, will be led by Charlie Miller alongside fellow ex-professional footballers Simon Donnelly and Robbie Winters.
While subsidies apply to residents of Galson and Barvas Estates for Plòigh and Ness FC Summer Coaching School is subsidised for Galson Estate residents and Ness FC members, these programmes are open to non-residents as well, with prices for non-residents starting from £4.50 per session.
Adding to the summer fun, Spòrsnis will host a five-day summer camp (28 July - 1 August) packed with creative and active sessions including cycling, beach games, scavenger hunts, swimming, baking and more. Aimed at children in P1 - P7, this camp is also subsidised for Galson Estate residents by UOG.
Lindy Cameron-Saunders, Development Officer, Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn, said: "We want every child in the estate to be able to take part in and enjoy the incredible range of activities on offer. By subsidising these programmes, we aim to make them accessible to all - with some sessions costing as little as £1. We’re grateful to all our partners for helping us to offer another fantastic programme this summer.”
