Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn is pleased to support improvements at one of the Galson Estate’s most valued community spaces through its Community Investment Fund.
A grant of £1,100 has been awarded to Guth Airson Iarrtasan Nis (GAIN) to assist with the replacement of seating at Eoropie Dunes Play Park. The project will see five benches replaced, addressing equipment that has become unsafe due to age and the impact of the park’s exposed coastal location. Originally installed in 2004, the seating has reached the end of its lifespan and forms part of GAIN’s ongoing maintenance and repair programme.
Set within four acres of machair and sand dunes, near Traigh Shanndaigh, Eoropie Dunes Play Park is a well-used and much loved facility. It provides a space for play, rest and connection, welcoming local families, school groups, walkers and visitors from further afield. Its location also makes it a natural stopping point for those exploring the area, including users of the nearby heritage walk.
The park plays an important role in supporting wellbeing and reducing social isolation, offering a place where people of all ages can come together. It also provides opportunities for outdoor learning, particularly given its proximity to the local primary school, and even offers young people a chance to gain experience of the world of work through the on-site kiosk.
Replacing the seating will ensure that visitors continue to have access to safe and comfortable facilities, encouraging people to spend more time at the park and make full use of what it has to offer. Maintaining and improving infrastructure such as this is essential to preserving the quality and accessibility of the space for the wider community.
Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn is delighted to support GAIN in this work and to contribute to the ongoing care and development of a facility that is so important to the area.
