Community Investment Fund - WICAS awarded £2,000
The Western Isles Citizens Advice Service (WICAS) recently received Community Investment Funding of £2,000 from Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn to employ an Outreach Income Maximisation Officer for a 6-week pilot project.
This will be a free and confidential support and advice service aimed at residents of the Galson Estate. The Officer will endeavour to work closely with local organisations within the Galson Estate to set up opportunities for residents to access advice, support and information that will enable them to make informed decisions to tackle any problems that are adversely affecting them.
WICAS aims to ensure that no-one misses out on the Social Security Benefits available to them or any other assistance to which they may be entitled. Where specialist advice is required, the Project Officer will signpost to other agencies or to qualified staff within their own organisation who deal with health complaints, pension enquiries, legal issues and money advice. This officer will offer advice through various channels, tailored to clients' preferences, including home visits, outreach locations, telephone, or email.
For more information or to make a query, contact WICAS directly on 01851 705727 or by email at bureau@lewiscab.casonline.org.uk.
