Community Investment Fund - £20,000 awarded to support restoration of war memorials

A £20,000 Community Investment Fund grant has been awarded to the North Lewis War Memorials Committee for urgent repairs to the war memorials in Cross and Borve. 

After a detailed survey, it was discovered that the war memorials, which are over twenty years old, required extensive remedial work, at a cost of over £40,000. The war memorials are focal points for the Remembrance Day events each November in North Lewis and commemorate the sacrifice of over 300 service personnel.
