Hebrides Mountain Rescue Team has a new home

On the 19th of May, Marie and Maryann from UOG attended the official opening of the new Hebrides Mountain Rescue Team (Heb MRT) Base in Stornoway. Urras Oighreachd Ghabhainn Community Investment Fund awarded £10 000 towards the cost of the build of the new base. Heb MRT is a team of 25 volunteers, some of whom live and work on the Galson Estate. The team responds to a diverse range of incidents throughout the Outer Hebrides, despite the weather or time of day. These incidents can include overdue walkers or crag fast climbers, the team has recently responded to missing persons searches and animal rescues on the estate. We are proud to support the team and grateful for their service.
