Dùthchas 2021
Abair gun robh seachdain Dùthchais air leth againn bho 4 - 11 Sultain. Ged a bha againn ri tachartas no dhà a chur dheth, bha prògram leathann agus inntinneach againn.
Thòisich cùisean le cuairt cladaich còmhla ris an arc-eòlaiche Ian McHardy eadar Gabhsann bho Dheas agus Dail bho Dheas, ceòl aig Comunn Eachdraidh Nis agus cèilidh aig Club Shòisealta Nis air a’ chiad deireadh-sheachdain. Chaidh seirbhis shònraichte an uairsin a chumail air Latha na Sàbaid aig Teampull Mholuaigh.
An ath sheachdain fhuair sinn air beagan obair-taice a dhèanamh còmhla ri Shona Mhoireasdan aig RSPB le feamainn agus feur, agus fhuair sinn blas den bhiadh as fheàrr ann an Nis - guga agus marag dhubh Stòr Chrois! Mìle taing dha Dods MacPhàrlain airson bruidhinn mun ghuga ’s e cho eòlach oirre. Chruinnich clann òg aig pàirc Bharabhais airson sgeulachdan agus òrain còmhla ri Shona Nic a’ Mhaoilein agus chuala sinn òraid bho bhuannaiche Duais Leabhraichean a’ Ghàidhealtachd, Daibhidh Gange. Chaidh clasaichean ann an sloinntearachd is abairtean Gàidhlig a lìbhrigeadh agus fhuair daoine cothrom beagan gàirnealarachd a dhèanamh còmhla ri Gàrradh Coimhearsnachd nan Eilean Siar. Bha an t-uabhas a’ dol fad na seachdain.
’S math a rinn a h-uile duine a dh’ullaich agus a lìbhrig na tachartasan agus ceud mìle taing dhan a h-uile duine a bha an làthair. Tha sinn an dòchas gun do chòrd e ribh cho math ’s a chòrd a rinn fhìn.

What an excellent Dùthchas week we had between the 4th and 11th September. Although some events were sadly unable to go ahead, we still enjoyed a varied and exciting programme.
Kicking off with a fascinating coastal archaeology walk with Ian McHardy between South Galson and South Dell, live music in the Comunn Eachdraidh Nis and a cèilidh in the Ness Social Club on Saturday 4th, we then had time to reflect at a special service in St Moluag’s, Eoropie on the Sunday afternoon. The subsequent week we had opportunities to use our hands at the habitat management and seaweed fertilising events with Shona from the RSPB, and chances to get our tastebuds tingling at both the Guga Taste and Talk in Comunn Eachdraidh Nis (our thanks to Dods Macfarlane for his brilliant accompanying talk) and at a black pudding demo in Cross Stores. We had songs and stories with Shona Macmillan in Barvas Playpark, an in-person talk from Highland Book Prize Winner David Gange, and geneaology sessions, Gaelic classes, a gardening workshop with the Hebridean Community Garden, and much, much more.
Congratulations to all event hosts for their hard work, time and effort, and to our event participants. We hope you had as much fun as we did.
