FIOS COLUMN – 19 JULY 2016

July 19, 2016

We are really pleased to have experienced such a great demand for our outdoor play sessions. We are working with Lindy Cameron-Saunders to deliver four outdoor sessions, all aimed at getting young people and their parents/carers out enjoying and exploring nature. Nature based play is not a new concept and is something that our ranger service offered several years ago and we have sought to adapt and  revive this with the hope of creating momentum that may allow us to develop the sessions. If demand is such we will seek to offer sessions on a more regular basis throughout the year and perhaps this will allow us to offer sessions that last longer too. Watch this space!! In the meantime, the sessions are proving to be great fun and a great learning opportunity for families.

We are continuing with our strategy planning sessions and recently met with Borve Young and Hearts group. This session was really informative and wonderful to get the input from the group. The feedback will be incorporated into the findings, which will continue to collate and will seek to share in the Autumn. Our next meeting will be with the Seniors group at Comunn Eachdraidh Nis on Thursday 28th July.

Our events continue with another a “Butt of Lewis circular” guided walk on 21st July at 11am and a “Call of the Corncrake” event on 28th July at 9pm.
