The Urras currently employs six people, three full-time and three part-time employees. The Urras also deliver a partnership project with The Energy Advisory Service (TEAS) and an officer is based in the offices at Galson three days per week.
Commercial Development Manager
Lisa Maclean joined the team in November 2010 as Commercial Development Manager. The role has overall responsibility for all Trust affairs as well as that of the subsidiary companies. Since 2006 Lisa has been working across the Highlands and Islands as a self employed business consultant and as a qualified business coach for the service industry. Her most recent post was as a Project Manager for Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. Lisa, originally from Northern Ireland moved to Edinburgh to study a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. After several years living and working in Edinburgh, Lisa and her husband, (who was born and raised in the Outer Hebrides), moved “home” and have settled in the Back area of the island.
Renewables Development Officer
Neil Mackinnon joined the Urras staff team in October 2011. Neil was brought up in Harris and Uig. He is a Land Economics graduate from Paisley College and worked initially as a valuation surveyor in the Highlands. He has spent most of his career at Highlands and Islands Enterprise in Stornoway, gaining experience in project management. Neil's role at HIE gave him the opportunity to be instrumental in securing renewable energy manufacturing activity at Arnish Point. He has most recently been employed in Fife Council’s Property Services team and has also run his own project management consultancy business, Siar Management. He is a Chartered Surveyor and Certificated Project Manager.
Joanne Matheson works on a part-time basis as Administrator Officer for the Urras. She works three days each week and takes care of book-keeping as well as being very involved in the setting up of the crofting administration filing system. Joanne has been employed by the Urras since July 2007 and lives in Eoropie with her husband and young family.

Amy is undertaking a 12 month graduate placement with the Trust as part of the TalentScotland Graduate Placement Programme. Amy will be working on our communication strategy and exploring new ways of engaging with our membership and increasing membership. Amy has a degree in Sustainable Forestry Management - University of the Higlands and Islands.

Energy Efficiency Outreach Officer
Brian has over 13 years experience of working on energy efficiency and sustainability projects. He has worked extensively across the United Kingdom in all countries and regions including the Western Isles on energy projects. From London; he is qualified in energy efficiency advice, holds a teaching degree with a subject specialism in environmental education for adults and a further degree in public administration. He is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Housing, elected for his work in energy efficiency and social housing. He is known for his down to earth take on life and his friendly approach to all matters - energy included.
